Noblesville, Indiana – Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County has received a $5,000 grant from Finance of America Cares, after being nominated for the grant by The Parker Mortgage Team, a local branch of Finance of America Mortgage.
Meals on Wheels provides 180 meals a day to local seniors, homebound, and disabled individuals. Putting food on the table is, of course, important, but providing food is not the primary goal of the organization. “Ultimately, we want to keep people in their homes,” says Beth Gelhausen, Executive Director of Meals on Wheels here in Hamilton County. Home is familiar. Home is comfortable. Home is confidence and independence. Home is, well, home. Providing care in the form of a meal helps to eliminate a big pain point and allow them to stay living in their homes for longer.
For some, the simple act of making a meal for themselves can fall anywhere on the scale from exhausting to impossible. Beth shared the story of one woman who couldn’t make it through the entire meal process without running out of breath.
Meals on Wheels, to date, operates with no waiting list thanks to grants and various donations from community supporters like The Parker Mortgage Team and Finance of America (FOA) Cares.
The Parker Mortgage Team at Finance of America is a staple on the square in downtown Noblesville, and they certainly know the importance of home. Mike Partin, owner of The Parker Mortgage Team at Finance of America shares, “Helping people move into their first home, their dream home, the home they will being that new baby to, the home they will see their kids off to college from or share with an aging parent… it’s the heartbeat of our business.”
“Giving back to an organization who understands the importance of home like we do was a no-brainer,” says Angie Meeks, the Branch Operations Lead for Parker who nominated Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County for the grant.
FOA Cares is a nationally recognized organization within Finance of America that gives back to local organizations and families nominated by its employees. This year, FOA Cares distributed 107 grants to various nonprofit organizations across the country.
