Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County Receives $20,000 Grant from the Central Indiana Senior Fund to Support Their Sponsor-A-Meal Program

Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County has received a generous $20,000 grant from the Central Indiana Community Foundation’s Central Indiana Senior Fund to support its Sponsor-A-Meal program, which provides nutritious meals and caring volunteer visits for vulnerable residents. This grant will play a critical role in meeting the needs of elderly, disabled, chronically ill and home-bound individuals across Hamilton County.

Through Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County’s Sponsor-A-Meal program, the cost of meals is subsidized, ensuring recipients receive consistent nourishment and well-being checks. Donors can support this life-sustaining effort with contributions that go directly toward daily, weekly, or monthly meal coverage, such as $9.00 for one day’s meals or $250 to support a recipient for an entire month.

“We are deeply grateful for this generous grant from the Central Indiana Community Foundation, which will allow us to expand our reach to even more individuals in need of nutritious meals and personal connection,” said Beth Gehlhausen, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County. “This grant allows us to not only nourish individuals with healthy meals but also offers them companionship and peace of mind. This incredible generosity will bring hope and security to our community’s most vulnerable.”

About Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County

Established in 1975, Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County supports individuals who are elderly, disabled and homebound by delivering nutritious meals, reducing hunger, improving health and promoting independence. Meals are prepared in state-approved healthcare facilities and designed by a certified registered dietitian under a physician’s prescribed supervision according to the client’s specific dietary needs. Nearly 200 meals are delivered daily by volunteers to enable our clients to remain independently living within the community in their own homes for as long as possible. For more information on receiving services or to volunteer, contact Meals on Wheels at 317-776-7159.
