To mark 45 years of providing nutritious meals to homebound Hamilton County Indiana residents – not just the elderly, but those with disabilities, mental health issues or even short-term, post-surgical needs – Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County has launched a special donor campaign, “Meet Us at the Table.”

Like many non-profits, Meals on Wheels faces the challenge of diminishing funding from both government and private sector sources while the need continues to grow. Last year, Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County served more than 302 individuals 43,000 meals. The money raised from the “Meet Us at the Table” campaign will ensure its services continue into the future.

“It’s hard to believe that in this county that is known for prosperity and success, food insecurity exists … but it does,” said Beth Gehlhausen, executive director of Meals on Wheels of Hamilton County. “We all have a seat at the table when it comes to hunger in our community … and we ask that you help us share in that solution.”

While donations of any size are appreciated (as $50 provides meals for one week for a Meals on Wheels client while $210 provides a month of meals), a campaign goal of $50,000 has been set. For the Meet Us at the Table campaign, individual or corporate donations of $1,500 or more will receive special recognition and tickets to events; benefits increase with the size of the donation including being part of a “donor wall” art installation at the Meals on Wheels office.
